Why the Impact of Palm Oil Matters
Go ahead, celebrate Earth Month with our indulgent and planet-conscious treats!
Oh no, your cart is empty!
This would look much better filled with treats!
Ah, Spring! The sun is shining, the flowers are in bloom, and the heavy winter jacket you’ve been wearing all season is finally returning to the back of the closet. Nature is at its most beautiful this time of year, making April the perfect month to celebrate Earth Day.
Celebrated by billions of people across the globe, Earth Day (and the weeks leading up to it) is all about raising environmental awareness and making sustainable changes. We all want to do our part to make the world a better place, but it can be difficult when we aren’t aware of the everyday products that may be damaging our environment. One of the most surprising of these products is found in everything from lipstick to chocolate to detergent to pizza dough. You guessed it— palm oil.
Â
Palm oil is the most commonly produced vegetable oil, sourced from the fruit and seeds of the oil palm tree. In fact, palm oil is so commonly used in the food industry that it’s found in half of all supermarket products.
Â
The good news is that products that use RSPO (Responsibly Sourced Palm Oil) are becoming more and more popular. Most Belgian Boys products don’t use palm oil at all, but those that do use only RSPO. So go ahead, celebrate Earth Month with our indulgent and planet-conscious treats!

Â
Not only are our light and fluffy Bite-Sized Pancakes completely palm oil free, but they can also be heated and served in minutes. Called poffertjes in the Netherlands, they pair wonderfully with syrup, melted chocolate, or fresh berries and whipped cream. As cute as they are delicious, our bite-sized pancakes make the perfect busy morning breakfast or quick yet satisfying snack.
Â
Â
All of Belgian Boy’s cookies are made without palm oil. Our signature Dutch Caramel Stroopwafels are a must-have for holiday, made by sandwiching an irresistible layer of ooey, gooey caramel between two crispy waffle cookies. Try placing on top of your morning coffee cup to get a delicious, melted caramel effect.
Â
Like our cookies, all our ramekin desserts are completely palm oil free. This includes our cheesecakes, lava cakes, and chocolate Brookie (a delicious mashup of brownies and cookies). And if you’re looking for even more ways to go green this Earth Day, try upcycling your clean ramekins by transforming them into planters, containers for fresh berries, or jewelry holders.
Â
Light and airy with a hint of sweet crunch, our Original Belgian Waffles owe their unique texture to the combination of brioche dough and pearl sugar. These incredibly versatile treats taste great heated up or straight out of the package, and are equally delicious at breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The best part? They are made with sustainable RSPO, giving a whole new meaning to guilt-free snacking.
Â
What’s better than an authentic Belgian waffle? How about an authentic Belgian waffle coated in chocolate! Like the original flavor, these indulgent Chocolate Coated Belgian Waffles are made only with responsibly sourced palm oil. For a unique Earth Day dessert, top a chocolate coated waffle with a scoop of gelato and sprinkle of fresh berries.
Â
Belgian Boys isn’t the only brand acknowledging the importance of producing palm oil free or RSPO products. Snack TBH makes a rich and creamy Hazelnut Cocoa Spread that doesn’t contain any palm oil. This sweet and sustainable spread is a match made on earth with the Belgian Boys’ bite-sized pancakes and crêpes.
